"Tres Tew here. I'm an instructor at Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be showing you how to use your jacket or your hooded sweatshirt in a defense situation. We are going to be talking about how to use your jacket. One of the ways to use your jacket when someone is coming at you with a knife thrust. Now, the first thing you want to do is create distance before you pull your jacket off. What you want to do; you want to take the jacket right here at the top, at the base of the neck, and wrap it up like so. When you're attacker comes, you are simply redirecting it out of the way. So, you are pushing down and letting the jacket just redirect it out of the way. You can either catch the knife here and come back into it, probably causing him to cut his neck, or you can just push it out of the way and then come back across. What I'm doing is I'm just flinging it over from behind and catching. From here, what I want to do is either wrap up his face, or go straight to the neck and pull down just like this. I can do this very hard and just slam his head into the concrete. That will probably knock him out. Or I can let him down pretty easy. From here, I'm going to stomp the knife hand on this other side, stomp here, stomp in the groin. And I can either choke him out or release here, strike, throw my jacket on the knife hand, strike again and then get up and take off. From that point, you probably want to call the cops. This is a very effective way to use your jacket against a knife thrust."
