"Tres Tew here. I'm an instructor at Yshua's Ryu Martial Arts on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to be showing you how to use your jacket or your hooded sweat shirt in a defense situation. Now I'm going to show you how to use your jacket as a distraction. As you can see by turning this big motion right here your eyes are following the jacket probably. So what I'm going to what to do is get the attacker's eyes following the jacket and I can even use this to redirect a couple of thrusts, but his eyes are on the jacket. He's not exactly sure what I'm doing with it. You have to create distance enough between your attacker to do this. So I'm creating, see how his eyes are following the jacket,OK, he's not sure, I'm following up creating a distraction just long enough for me to come in to do what I need to do with my open hand. I can even throw it straight down and his eyes will follow the jacket or maybe I'll just pull it off as if... OK, he's asked for my wallet, I'm searching for something,OK, hang on I think my wallet's in here. I drop it, his eyes are going to follow it, I'm moving in to take control right here, get rid of the knife threat. So that's how to use your jacket as a distraction there are many other ways you can use your jacket. This is just one of them. Very effective tool."
