"Tres Tew here, I'm an instructor at Yshua's Ryu Martial Arts and on behalf of Expert Village I'm going to be showing you how to use your jacket or your hooded sweat shirt in a defense situation. OK, now I'd like to talk to you about using either your jacket or your hoodie, whichever one you are able to get off first, as a tangle net. What I mean by that, if Nick were to throw a strike at me, I'm going to tangle his knife up and I can either wrap it again or I can just trap it down. Also I can tangle his entire body up by just throwing it. He's unaware of what's going on. I've blocked his vision, I've tangled up his knife hand, he feels like he's restricted in some way, it's not an actual restriction, really it is more of a psychological thing. When I throw this on his knife hand he feels like he's trapped the knife up again himself. From here I can come and strike him in the face or strike him in the body, the leg and gain control of the knife hand. Also, I can do a disarm, just kind of grab the knife. As you can see I have the knife here but I've tangled it up and I've used it in that manner so I can kind of keep him from attacking me again with the knife. And that's how to use your jacket as a tangling weapon."
