"Tres Tew here. I'm an instructor at Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be talking to you about the expandable baton. Now we are going to be going over how to use your baton in a bat grip. You just flip it out how you would normally, going out like this. This will be versus a bat-like weapon; this could be a bat, a crowbar, a broom handle, or anything. The basic principle is still the same. So, when he comes with his typical baseball bat swing, we're assisting the block with this hand down here. Then we are rolling it to catch right here. From here, we are going to strike into the face to loosen up this hand. From here, we'll grab the whatever weapon he has, strike with a back strike either to the hand or the leg. Maybe we'll get the hand out of the way to create that opening to get into the ribs or whatever. So we'll do that one more time. He comes across. We are blocking and catching, reaping out. We can either strike in the face, or we can reach straight to the weapon, strike, strike. He'll probably go down at that point. After a strike to the head with a baton, it can be pretty deadly. It's a very hard surface. So, just be aware that once you strike him in the head, he's probably not going to want to come after you. That's how to defend yourself against a stick-like weapon with your ASP baton. "
