"As far as your arms are concerned, you really do need to stretch your arm muscles, because you are going to be swinging your arms a lot during the race. I would not worry too much about your obliques unless you are trying to build muscle, so consult your gym on that. As far as your arms are concerned, just straight over the head. Take one arm grab the elbow of the other right over the head like this. Switch, hold for 20 sec. And generally, just a few arm circles, whatever will stretch out your arms. Even though you’re not working these muscles so much, they do get a lot of a workout during a race. Your arms will feel sore, all this back and forth motion of carrying your legs all this way, that will help."
