"Hi. I'm Tres Tew. I'm an instructor at Yeshua's Ryu Martial Arts and on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to be talking to you a little bit about open hand combat. Now we are going to be talking about vital areas of the body. You can punch into these, kick, elbow, knee or whatever. We just want to make you aware that they are there and if you hit them as opposed to anywhere else, it's going to cause more damage. Nick, if you could just stand at attention, facing the camera. Alright now, obviously the face is a very vital area, especially the nose. Any type of pressure on the nose and the eyes are going to be very damaging. The jaw, also, if you push back on the jaw with a punch, it's going to catch two nerves back here and that will cause someone to be knocked out. Also, going down, we've got ears. A smack to the ears will cause pretty good damage. If you do it hard enough, you may even bust an eardrum. We've got temples here. A good knuckle to the temple always works. We've got throat strikes. Also, we've got these two veins right here. So, if you ever get behind someone, you can cinch up on them and cut off the flow of blood to the head. He'll pass right out; don't worry about him. Also, we've got veins running along here. Muscles are very sensitive, so if you can ever just strike a muscle outright, that''ll take a lot of damage. Also, sternum; or right in the neck right here, that's a good area. Ribs are very sensitive, right under the arm and under the arm pit. Just a finger jab up there; that cuts off flow to the arteries if you do it right. Obviously, on a male, we have the groin area. A knee there, a kick there or whatever, women: it works. Men: watch out. Also, knees, if you're fighting at a distance and you kick a knee, it's not meant to go back this way so it's going to buckle under. You can stomp toes. Really, anything that is not pretty massive; fingers are a pretty good area. You can bend them back ways you're not supposed to. Wrist locks and things of that nature, any joints are good areas to attack. If I've got him right here, I just want to wail on that elbow; take him out with a couple of shots to the ribs. He's going to be hurting as opposed to if I'm just hitting him in the pectorals because that's where a lot of muscle is. In the abs, you've got a lot of muscles covering. So, just keep in mind the vital areas of the body that you want to strike. Also, we've got the solar plexus right around here; a good shot there is good. Also, Nick, could you turn around please. We've got the spine running along here. A good hit to the spine and the shoulder blade will knock someone out of action for a pretty long time. That is the vital areas of the body. "
