Series Summary

Steve Cruz is a cool guy. When watching these videos, you’ll realize this right away. He’s got a bunch of friends cheering him on as he does his thing at the skatepark. He can’t talk to the camera for more than a few seconds without one of his pals waving to him or saying hi. Why is Steve Cruz so cool? Beyond his cool name, take a look at his amazing skateboard tricks. This guy has some serious skills, yet he makes it look so effortless. And while wearing his glasses, for goodness sake! Lesser boarders would have ground their spectacles into tiny pieces if they tried the tricks he does with his glasses on. Yet he stays more balanced on his board than a lot of us do sitting at our desks! He could be riding a rail or checking his e-mail and his glasses would never know the difference.

In this free series of skateboarding videos for beginners, Steve shows you tricks for skateboarding in streets and parks. He demonstrates how to do a 180 and a nose manual and even shares some of his thoughts on skateboarding video games. Watch these videos and some of his cool might just rub off on you.

Video Transcript

"I'm Steve Cruz here with Expert Village. On a rail, on a ledge, pretty much anything I guess. Anything with structure that you can grind. I have been skating for 4 years now. Don't go over something too high, because then if you don't pop onto it you'll slip out and hit your shin or something. Don't go too fast because you might lose balance and shoot back and slip and fall back. If you fall, don't try to catch yourself with your hands. Just fall because if not, you might break something.
