"You're always going to want to make sure you have some sort of protection for your skin from the sun. Skin cancer is, melanoma is a very dangerous and prominent disease that we have to deal with on a daily basis. You want to make sure that you use at least a 30 SPF on your skin. Another thing you want to also make sure that you do is put your sun screen on before you leave the house. You want to put it on while your skin is still cool and dry. The reason for this is that you want it to absorb into that second layer of the epidermis and if you think about it when you get out to the beach or you get out to where ever you're going on your hike, you start getting warm and your skin starts to perspire. Your body starts to perspire and what that does is it pushes out so you have moisture coming out. So that prevents any sunscreen from absorbing in. So you can actually put this on once you start perspiring and you will not absorb and you will get a sunburn even though you put sunscreen on. So always make sure you put your sunscreen on before you leave the house when your skin is still cool and dry."
