"One thing you want to consider when your out day hiking is "are you going to need to eat"? Most likely your are because your going to be out most of the day. You need to make sure you have enough calorie intake to sustain yourself while you?re out. A lot of things you can bring from home that will usually sustain you that don't weight that much. One thing, a breakfast food, would be a pop-tart. You don't have to toast the pop-tarts you can eat them raw and that gives a nice source of sugar, carbohydrates good energy foods. Another thing you can bring are the tuna foil packs. Not necessary the can but the foil packs. Very good source of protein, gives you a lot of energy a lot of fuel. Energy bars, like power bars and that sort of thing, those are great to bring. The little packets of cheese and crackers those are great to bring cause they don't spoil. There are little cubs that you can buy that are open the bottom end, they're squeeze tubes sort of like a tooth paste tube, and you can fill those with peanut butter and jelly at home and use those as high energy foods and just bring crackers or bread that sort of thing. So, there are a lot of options that you can utilize just from your pantry from at home."
