"When your taking a day hike you always want to make sure you bring enough water. Water is very important to make sure that you stay properly hydrated during your hike. You going to burn a lot more calories and use a lot more water then you normally would just walking around town. There's several different options that you can utilize. One of which, and is probably one of the more popular, would be to convert your day pack into a camel back by purchasing a separate hydration bladder. This bladder actually is a three liter bladder. The pouch slips right down inside your day pack, the hose comes out the back and comes over and clips on your shoulder straps. So, you have water easily available right here on your shoulder. If you prefer to carry a water bottle Nalgene is probably going to be your best bet. It is a glass like virtually none destructible high carbon plastic and this thing will not break. You can practically run over it with a car and it will not break and it's also very smooth so you do not have that plastic taste that you do with some bottles. A lot of people prefer a metal bottle. This one is aluminum, it's also available, something that you might want to use. Then there is also just a plastic bladder that you can use as a water bottle. This one does, it's a soft plastic, so it does sometimes carry a little bit of plastic residue. So, you do pick up a little bit of that plastic taste in your water."
