" Hi! I’m Steve Jimenez with fitandfearless.com, Krav Maga, Austin. In sticking with the segments of the safety and awareness around your vehicle, in this scenario, we are going to go over the wrong way to approach your vehicle to get in the driver’s seat to drive off. Again, the title of the segment is awareness and safety. The first thing is awareness. You always should be aware of your surroundings, meaning looking around, making eye contact with people, letting them know that you are aware of them being in your surroundings and that you are definitely not afraid of them, you are not intimated by them. If you do not show eye contact, then an assailant may assume you are timid, scared and not in control of yourself. So with eye contact, it will show assertiveness, awareness and definitely confidence; and that is definitely what an attacker is not looking for. Marissa is going to walk around her car. She is not going to be aware. She is going to be looking at her keys, fumbling with her phone or looking in her purse…just very not paying attention. And she is going to walk up to her vehicle.

In this next segment, Marissa is actually walking up with awareness with a potential assailant there. She makes eye contact with this potential assailant, and it is definitely what he’s not looking for. He is looking for an easy victim, not somebody who is going to actually fight back or is aware of their surroundings. So she actually prevents an attack, a potential attack, just by being aware of her surroundings. "
