"Hi! This is Tamir Elterman on behalf of expertvillage.com and in this clip we will be talking about defensive checks. The poke check. You as the defender will begin in the proper stance. As the attacker penetrates you place the head of your stick on the hands of the hips of the attacker and drive the head of your stick forward by pushing the bottom hand on the stick forward and using the top hand as a guide. Proper position is maintained throughout the check. You should be careful not to lend your body forward or you might lose your balance in position. The slap check. Again you begin in the proper stance. As the attacker penetrates you draw the stick away from the offensive player for a short distance and then bring it back towards the attacker with a quick snap at the wrist creating a slapping motion. The slap can only cover a short distance and should hit the hands or the stick. The wrap check. This check is more risky because it pulls defenders out of position. To execute the wrap check you must first overplay the off stick side, you extend your stick beyond the normal position and wrap the stick around the offensive player making contact with his stick. "
