"This is Tamir Elterman on behalf of expertvillage.com and in this clip work we are going to be talking about catching. Catching distance. You want to stand facing the player who is passing you the ball. You want your feet slightly offset so if you are catching left handed your right foot is slightly forward and if you are catching right handed your left foot is slightly forward. The stance changes slightly once the ball arrives. Stick position. As you prepare to receive the ball, you hold your stick parallel to your body. Your top hand is near the top of the stick and slightly in front of your head. You arm is extended across your body at waist height with the bottom hand slightly behind the top hand. The head of the stick should also be in the box area, few inches to the side of your head. Here it comes. Your focus is on the ball, as it moves towards you. Hand-eye coordination is obviously a part of this process. You watch the ball movement to the pocket and try to catch the ball in the box area. Your stance will change as the ball lands in the head of the stick, you will want to cushion the pass by easing the stick back from slightly in front your head to even with your ear. Your shoulders rotate slightly towards the side the ball is on and this motion will help the ball settle into your stick and also pace you in position to cradle pass. "
