"Hi this is Tim Gardener with ExpertVillage.com; we’re going to be going over some advanced techniques in football. Okay we’re going to be talking about breaking free, what I mean by that is you just came through the hole, you just got out of traffic, all you see is green grass and you’re breaking free, you’re heading for the in-zone. The biggest mistake that any back receiver or anybody makes in that situation is not recognizing the desperation that the defense is in at that moment. In desperation the first thing people are going to do when you’re about to break, they’re going to start diving at your feet and you’ve got to be aware of that, and if you’re aware of that then your first reaction needs to be as soon as you see green grass is to lift your feet up as high as you can for the next 3 to 5 steps. That ensures you that nobody is going to clip your heels or just get a small little clip and make you fall right when you’re about to break free because that’s the first thing that’s going to happen.
