Court position when returning a pinch shot. Just to reiterate what a pinch shot is, when it hits the side wall and front wall, looks like this ok? When you're playing against an opponent who likes to hit these pinch shots, the only thing you can do is anticipate one of these pinches. So if you've given them a set up, you're probably in trouble no matter what but at some point you're going to have to get into position to return these pinches, or you're going to have him roll over you the whole entire time match. So, to return a pinch shot you have to anticipate where that shots going to go. When it hits the sidewall and the front wall, this center court positioning back here again may be too far back, so you've got to go straight up, and anticipate that the ball is going to shoot out from the side wall to the front wall and be right around here, and just hope that they miss a little bit. If there just killing them this high off the ground there's really nothing you can do. But the court positioning that you want to be in, is dead center and up a little bit to retrieve a pinch. If they are constantly hitting passes, you've got to pay attention to the pattern that your opponent is hitting. Were only talking about guys that non-stop hit these pinches, so anticipate by moving forward, always staying in the center, and start getting up a little bit. But you do run the risk of them seeing your pattern of getting those pinches, and then they might start passing you. So you've got to pay attention on where your court positioning is when returning these pinch shots.
