"Hi. My name is Sheryl McGlochlin with crazysheryl.com, and welcome to expertvillage.com. We're talking about enjoying the outdoor winter activities, such as hiking and walking. I want to talk about some of the equipment that is necessary. Now I am a downhill skier, and I use these poles for skiing. But I also like to use them all winter-long for hiking, and you can use them for walking. They give you balance and stability, and you can even find a pair of ski poles at lease place here in Utah. You can get them for ten dollars at a thrift shop. And it's really great because it gives you a sense of balance. It will help in avoiding sprained ankles and twisted ankles. And so even walking down a paved street, you can use a couple of poles. Another thing that really comes in handy is this little thing I have around my neck. If it's not that cold, I just wear it around my neck. But if my ears start to get cold, I will just lift it right over my ears and keep my ears warm. So that way, I can take it off if I'm too warm, or I can put it on if I get too hot, or if I need to, if my ears start getting really cold. And that's just a couple of very important things that you need in order to be comfortable in the wintertime, outside."
