"SHERYL MCGLOCHLIN: Hi. This is Sheryl with ExpertVillage.com. And today, we are building a campfire out in my backyard, in the winter, in the snow. Now, we have got to be able to put out this fire before we leave, and we've talked about it smothering, smothering it with snow. Now, lots of times in the summer time, you might have dirt that is nearby, and you'd be able to use your shovel and go ahead and smother with dirt. But as you can see, pretty much, there is nothing around here but snow. So we smothered it with snow. Another way of putting out the fire is what Mike's doing right here, and he is using water. You should always have some water containers so that you can go ahead and pour the water directly on the fire, and again, you can stand a little bit further away from here because it does have a lot of smoke that comes out when you're putting out your fire. But you want to have a water container that is completely full of water and in fact, even a few water containers, depending on how big your fire is, or if it's not put out, you need to stay with it until it is."
