"Hello! My name is Sid Nelson, master instructor in Martial Arts. I'm representing expertvillage.com. Okay, the next part of our martial arts training will be kicks. In all martial arts kicks give you the advantage, they give you more reach against your opponent, the kicks are much more powerful, and they're faster. Don't forget the element of surprise as well. We're going to go over the 3 basic kicks in the martial arts, but before you kick, in class make sure you complete a good warm-up or a stretch. You can warm-up by jump roping or jogging or any type of calisthenics. Here I'll lend you one good tip on stretching to get started. Get into a front stance and we'll bring the back leg up to stretch the biggest muscle in the leg. The most powerful muscle in the leg, the hamstring muscle. Complete about 10 stretches on each side. The leg will stay straight, and flex the foot up to touch your hand to give it a little target. The first kick that we will begin to do is a front kick, one of the easiest kicks in Taekwondo or any style in martial arts. We'll kick from a well guarded position. When you begin to kick, first bring up the knee to the height that you intend to kick. In this case, I'll kick about waist high. Then extend the bottom part of the leg out and retract it before replacing the knee back to the back. You can also kick with the front leg. In doing that, do the same thing. Lift the knee first, kick out, pull back, and then place down. "
