Video Transcript

"Hello! My name is Sid Nelson, master instructor in Martial Arts. I'm representing expertvillage.com. In this segment of the video, we'll be looking at stances. There are 3 basic stances and one general stance in the beginning class. The first stance will be a horse stance. Keep in mind, stances will help you with your balance and also teaches a student precision moves. The first stance is a horse stance. We'll be stepping out from say a ready position, position three, to a horse stance. We already have our feet at shoulder's width wide. We'll be stepping out at double shoulder's width wide. Stepping out to the left, we'll bend at the knees about mid way. We want our feet turned forward and back nice and straight. Again, this is a way for students to exercise their posture. Posture again shows confidence and also your ability to get ready. We want our back nice and straight. No slouching and hold that position. The legs are exercising. It strengthens the body and teaches patience."
