"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Stephen Koepfer at New York Combat SAMBO in New York city, and today I'm going to be demonstrating beginning SAMBO. In this clip we're going to demonstrate the basic side roll. This is how to protect your body if you fall on the side of your body or if you're falling in this angle. Not backwards and not forwards. The basic concept is to protect your main organs, protect your neck and spread out the impact of your body on the floor. The best way to practice this is to sweep out one leg. Usually your rear leg if I'm standing in a fighting stance. Sweep it out forward. You can sit on the other leg and come here. This leg should up high, your arm should palm down facing the floor. Your neck should be bent facing our knot and this leg should be perpendicular to the floor and not parallel. If you're thrown, you might smash your knees together. Always cover your head. Once fast.
