"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Stephen Koepfer at New York Combat SAMBO in New York city, and today I'm going to be demonstrating beginning SAMBO. In this clip, we're going to be demonstrating the basic forward roll the way we perform it in SAMBO. This is the most important technique. It's the foundation of everything, of your movements, of your techniques, how you're going to perform, submissions later on. So the basic forward roll, you're going to tuck your arm deep beneath your own body along with your head in that same direction. You're going to allow yourself to fall forward and using that tucking motion, protecting your head, your arm, shoulder, come out the other side. Slowly like this. Okay. One important thing not to do is to post your other hand on the floor because if you get thrown hard you could break your shoulder or your elbow. Many people will do this and put their hand down. That's an improper technique for falling on the street. You don't want to do that. So once again, arm under, roll, come right out, stand up. One more time. Fast. "
