"Welcome to Expert Village, I am Schell Michael and in this segment we're going to be talking about your surfer's workout. Alrighty, so running is definitely key in to getting your cardio in and keeping you in shape. A few ways you can do it is running on the beach is a great thing. It's nice, your outside, you've got the sand in your toes. Do be careful though. If you do run too much in the sand, sometimes you can get some shin splints, just because the anatomical position of your foot isn't really meant to be, it's just, it's so drastic because the sand is too soft. It can be either arched too much or it can be arched too little, so I'd say the best thing to do is wear some tennis shoes. You'll probably get some sand in your feet, but that's OK. I mean, if you're running on the beach just barefoot, you're going to get sand anyway. So, if you plan on running on the beach quite often, definitely get some good support tennis shoes and that will keep your body in line and you won't feel fatigue anywhere and you'll just feel great. They say running anywhere from three to four times a week for about twenty to thirty minutes, I think a lot of people go overboard. They think they have to run every single day for an hour to get that cardio that they need, but you know just a few times a week, twenty or thirty minutes is a pretty good average. And just to get your heart rate going."
