"Hi, I'm Schell Michael. I'm here with Expert Village and today we're going to be doing a series on how to surf. So, now we're going to be talking about board selection which is super important to catching the ultimate wave. Alright ladies, I know a lot of you are probably thinking, "Okay, all the cool girls and all the cool guys have the thin boards, the small boards", but, you're not cool yet, so just take it slow and the best thing to do is get a bigger board, a little bit more thicker board so it gets you a little more buoyant in the water. Back here we have a nice fun board. It's kind of in between your short board and your long board which would be super fun for catching those waves. It's pretty fun. This is about a 7'1", 7'2" and you can catch lots of good rides on that. Here underneath the board we got the fins. Sometimes you can have a board that has twin fins, sometimes you can have a board that, right here as this one has three fins. Also there's boards that have one fin. For you beginners, it's not really super important to worry about that. It's mostly like the shape of the board and having fun but when you start getting into it more, the fin can definitely come into play in how you want to ride, what kind of tricks you want to do but that's not real important right now. Another type of board is foam boards and I think those are really good for beginners because a lot of them are soft so you can't really hurt other people and you can't really hurt yourself which is a good thing. So those are good for beginners and it doesn't hurt your ribs as much. I know a lot of people, when they start paddling, they start getting into it and they're beginners, they tend to get really sore and the foam boards they're just not as abrasive as a fiberglass board or an epoxy board or some of the harder boards. So I think foam boards are good and it's definitely a great way to start off for beginning."
