on 1/13/2009 With all due respect for Scott's passion for table tennis, I believe his comments/advice reflect his skill level, which I estimate as high level beginner. Based on reviewing his videos, it's obvious to me that Scott doesn't understand table tennis technique and rules and shouldn't be considered an expert in this area.

"SCOTT BROWDER: Okay now I'd like to talk about something that's pretty important is your footwork. And what you want to remember is obviously you're going to stay on your toes and the balls of your feet as much as possible and bending your knees and getting low to the table top but also you want to be able to push off with the right foot when the shot dictates it. So in other words if I have a backhand shot coming up, I'm setting my left foot back and my right foot slightly forward with an open stance and then as the ball approaches I'm taking a half-step forward and then I'm hitting my shot. So your footwork initially when you're set up in your ready position, you're sitting with your feet at a little bit greater than shoulder width and your crouching down into your ready position, you're watching for the ball, you bet you know it's coming at your backhand side, you're stepping to the side with your right foot and then you're taking that final step forward and lounging towards the table, stepping towards the table. Same with the back or the forehand except for it in reverse you're in your ready position, you see it's coming to the forehand side, you're taking your left half-step forward and your following through just with that little bit of lunge with your left forward and coming through with your paddle. So it'll look something like this. So it's just a lunge, left foot for the forehand and right foot forward for the backhand."
