"Also we have different selections, as far as the paddles go. You've got the classic cheap paddle that you can buy, it's usually wood, and it has a pretty hard surface to it. It usually has raised nipples on it, but it's a hard paddle and you're going to get a real hard bounce off of it and you're not going to be able to control the ball very well with it. It's fine for people that like that type of feel, it's a real crisp type feel but for me, it's not the paddle. I usually use something that's a little thicker, you'll see the difference between the depth of the paddle. They have more a foam type finish to it but it's usually a little tackier, the ball will grab a little better and it's got some cushion to it, so when you hit the ball it will actually indent into the paddle, which keeps on the paddle a little bit longer and gives you the ability to put a little more spin on the ball. Then we have a combination of the two, which is the nipples out on one side and the flat surface on the other side, which is also a padded paddle. They also still make the sandpaper, which is from the 1950's, if you like that feel, but that's about it, in the paddle selection."
