on 1/23/2009 Sorry, this person doesn't know much about table tennis or about proper equipment. He gives no specific info about net height, table dimensions, flooring, brands and any actual useful facts. The table and net he is using are of very low quality.

Expert Village should be careful who presents themselves as "experts." This person knows very little about our sport and these videos should be removed. He seems well intentioned but looks like a mediocre basement player trying to convert some tennis techniques to TT, and badly. His grasp of the English language is not even adequate as a teacher.

Go to usatt.org to find out about the real sport of ping pong.

Video Transcript

"Hi this is Scott for Expert Village. We are going to be talking about ping pong tonight. We'll talk about equipment first. You can go to any store, hardware store or sporting goods store. They'll usually have ping pong equipment, and as long as you have a table, there's all kinds of tables you can buy from professional to just a piece of plywood with a couple of clamps on it if you got desperate. You can usually get a table, reasonably priced, for maybe 200 dollars. You can go to Wal-Mart or a sporting goods place; usually Wal-Mart is going to have one of the cheaper brands or models. So you're going to want, obviously, to start with a table. The net you're going to go ahead and adjust as you put it onto the table. You're just going to make sure that it's taught across the top. There's not too much to it, you've got a couple of screws to screw it on. Just follow the manual and the instructions, and you should be good."
