"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about now is with our defensive tackles, one of the most important things they have to do is fire off the ball quick. Automatically, the offensive linemen know what the count is and they know what the cadence is and they know what the play is. So, they have a slight advantage because they know where they're going. The know whether they're trying to force this man inside or the outside or push him back. The defensive tackle doesn't know that. So, he has to have a quicker fire off than the guy on the offensive side. So, first, we'll get down into our three point stance (video demo). We have to make sure we have good balance. He has to be up on his toes. You don't want your linemen with their feet set flat because they can't fire off as quickly. So, we want him up on his toes, we want his butt down and all his energy will be transferred to the front when he fires off. We're going to show you a couple of times what it looks like (video demo). Remember, he's watching the ball on his fire off. You noticed that I said, "Hut," first and he didn't go. Then the ball was snapped and then he fired off. You want both hands coming through ready to explode through the play firing off from your toes. Once again, this is what it looks like (video demo). We have him trained well. He doesn't go until the ball. That's the proper way to fire off if you're a defensive tackle."
