"Hi, this is Sean Hobson. One thing we want to try to do is incorporate as many basketball skills into our daily conditioning as possible when drawing up the practice plans. What we're going to do right is show you a drill called "closeout and box out" and what they're going to do is they're going to try to go at full speed as much as they possibly can through this drill and we're going to have, the player underneath is actually going to be the defensive player. He's going to throw the ball out to the offensive player, he's going to close him out, the offensive player is going to shoot, he's going to contest the shot and then box him out. What's going to happen is, after we do this several times through, this becomes a conditioning drill. The defender will always rotate to the offensive player and there'll be a new man in line coming in. So this is a really quick drill, as soon as the ball is rebounded, it's handed off and then he's going to come on through the second time. So this is what it looks like when we closeout, contest the shot, and box out. This is what the drill looks like. Closes him, contest him, he boxes it out and he goes and gets the rebound, good. So then, when he rebounds it, he's going to kick it to the new line, he'll become the offensive player, then new player with the ball then will come in, contest the shot, close it out, box it out and then we keep going through this for about three or four minutes and it's a good conditioning drill to put in the middle of practice."
