"Hi, this is Sean Hobson. What we're talking about right now is how to run a proper motion offense. One important thing that you can do in any offense, and especially in a motion offense, you've got to get the ball in to the post as often as you can. Now, even if we don't get the post the ball where can score, as long as we get the post touches it's going to keep the defense honest. Because what's going to happen is, if we continue to pass the ball around the perimeter and we never get it in to the post, one thing that's going to happen is your post are going to get frustrated and they're going to stop working, the other thing that's going to happen is, if I'm a defender and I know that I don't have to worry about them throwing the ball into the post, I'm just going to keep cheating up high and I'm going to know that he's probably going to throw to this guy on the perimeter because he's not going to take it in to the post. So your defenders are going to start cheating and they're going to start picking your passes off because they know every time what you're going to do in the offense. So let's go ahead and walk through the first step of the motion, he's going to pass to the wing. We want to try to get this guy a touch, go ahead and get it in the post. Now, even if he can't work and get a score, he can go ahead and kick the ball back out but, what it's going to do is, it may open this guy up for a shot, the defense may drop on to the post, but at least we've got something going on than just passing the ball from perimeter player to perimeter player to perimeter player and it's going to make our offense a lot more versatile."
