"Hi, this is Sean Hobson. When understanding the game of basketball, the first thing you have to understand is what you can and cannot do on the court. What we want to explain right now are a couple of violations that occur whenever you are boxing out, during a basketball game. The first we are going to talk about is from the defender. Now obviously the defender most of the time has inside position on the rebound. So what we're going to talk about here is, if Ben's coming in to get the rebound and this guy is going to box out, one thing you cannot do is, when you get into a box out formation, you cannot reach back and hold that person with your hand. That is illegal that will cost you fouls. The other thing that you cannot do is when you are coming to box out and you're going to meet your players, you can't come in and push them out of the way. You can step in front of them, but you cannot lead with a forearm and shove them out of the way and then come in and box out. You've got to make sure that you run straight on to the player. Now the next one I want to show is from the offensive side. If he's being boxed out, you cannot push off. If this guy got inside position, this guy cannot come up with his hand and push him off to clear position to get the rebound. The other thing you cannot do is if this guy has inside position, this guy cannot come up to get the rebound. If the rebound is here he cannot come up through this man and come over his back. That is also considered to be a fowl. So there's three different fouls or four different fouls that can be created on a box out, so make sure that you box out correctly, you don't come over and you don't push off to get the rebound."
