"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, and right now we're working with our shooting guards. And one thing we want our shooting guards to understand is, their first option as a shooting guard is obviously to shoot the ball. So, one thing we want to teach them is, when they come off a screen, or when they come off of a cut, and they catch the ball, they've got one thing on their mind, and that is how I get myself ready for a shot as quick as I possibly can. And being ready to be a shooter includes two things. One, a quick release. Getting that shot up quick. And the second thing is, being ready to shoot as an option. So, at first we're going to show you what it looks like when you're not ready to shoot. So, Blake go ahead and gives me the ball. And let's have you just cut off the wing back. And when Blake catches the ball this time, he's going to catch it and he's just going to catch it and be standing up straight where he's not in a position to shoot the ball. Go ahead and come up. So you can see, if he catches the ball and he has the ball down and not in a position ready to shoot, he's not going to be what I would consider a shooter. Instead, we want him to look like this. This time when he comes off he's going to catch it; he's going to be ready to be a shooter. Now, he's ready to shoot. Now what he has to do is he has to have a quick release. He has to make up his mind quickly, when he catches that ball, to shoot it quick, or to fake it and drive, or to pass it. But if he's in a good ready position then he can make that decision quickly. We're going to show you right now Blake shooting the ball, and watch how quickly he releases the ball. Ready, go. He catches it, boom, he makes a quick decision to shoot the ball, and again, it doesn't matter if you shoot a high percentage, but if you're going to be a shooting guard, you've got to be able to get that shot off quick with a quick release, being ready to shoot when you catch, and that's going to make you a much better shooting guard."
