"Hi, this is Sean Hobson. When talking about playing the zone defense, one important thing is when the shot goes up and you're on offense, you've got to sprint back and get on defense. Now, the easiest part about being in a zone is when the shot goes up and everybody sprints back on defense, you pretty much are going to sprint to your particular zone area. You know you have an assigned area; you don't have to find your guy, you have to sprint back. But at the same time, one of the major things that you have to concentrate on when sprinting back in the zone is you've to make sure that you catch the ball, you know where the ball's at, and you pick it up and stop it first. So, even if you're a post player, instead of sprinting all the way down to the bottom of the zone, you may have to challenge the ball first, get it stopped, and then drop back down to your zone area. So, the main thing is, sprint back quick, locate the ball, stop the ball, then get into your particular places on the zone. So what I'm going to do right here is I'm going to go ahead and shoot, I'll get the rebound, and I'll bring the ball up and you show how you first pick up the ball and then go to your zone areas. All right, here we go. Good. Good. So you see that they sprinted back into their positions, they picked up the ball, they both converged on the ball, they got it stopped, everybody else was able to run back into their zone area. That's how you effectively sprint back, and get into defense, and stop the offense in a zone."
