"Hi, this is Sean Hobson. We're talking about the zone. A couple things we want to do to adjust off the zone are we want to trap. We want to try to be real aggressive with our zone. There are different styles of play in a zone. One is you just follow the ball in the zone. You're trying to slow down the defense, or you're trying to make them shoot three point shots. What we like to do is we like to play an aggressive 2-3 style where we try to trap everything. And so what happens is, when a player gets the pass on the wing, and he's in between zones, from this guard on the top of the zone, and this guy on the bottom of the zone, we like to try to trap in this area right here. Because if they don't have an outlet down low, or they don't have an outlet up high, hopefully we can get a turnover. But what we have to do is we have to trap quick, and as soon as the ball leaves the trap area, they have to adjust quickly. So that's how we trap the wings right here. Now, the other part that happens is, sometimes against a zone, they like to get the ball here in the short corner. What they're trying to do is they're trying to get the ball quickly into the short corner, and then get it here to the post. You can tell that our team is used to playing against short corner traps because they know how to adjust well. So what happens is our outside defender is going to drop down, our low middle man is going to drop over, we're going to trap here, we're going to have this guy taking away a pass back this direction, we have this guy coming over to take away any passes to the middle of the post. The only thing they can really do is to pass the ball out high, and then we can adjust back and they get nothing out of the short corner. So those are two effective ways that you can trap against a zone."
