"Hi, this is Sean Hobson. Right now we're talking about zone responsibilities and how to play a zone defense, and where the guys are supposed to go when a ball or the man enters their zone. What I want to talk about now is what happens to this guy on the back side of where the ball is in the zone. There's a couple of different things. It depends on the responsibility and what type of offense is being ran against them. If a team likes to flash a player up in the high post area, that's going to be this guy's responsibility. As the ball enters over here, he is on the ball, in his particular zone. When he's out of his zone, most of the time the back side zone guy is going to take the high post, because a lot of zone offenses want to get the ball out here, then they want to move it to the middle. If he doesn't come and capture the middle, then that offensive player's going to be able to step there and have a wide open middle. Also, if they have a shooter that plays the back side and they're not flashing to the high post, then we're going to have Blake on the back side come up and play a deny style, where he comes up and he's going to deny everything back to that back side. So basically what he has to on the back side is he's just going to play a zone. That's what it's called. He's going to be in help side, and he's going to watch the ball if either somebody comes up here, or if the ball comes up in the high post, he's going to play that. So, when you're away from the ball, you're more a help, when you're on the ball, you play the ball. And that's how the top guys play in the zone defense."
