"Hi. This is Sean Hobson and what we're talking about right now is the jobs and the duty of our point guard. Now our point guard has many responsibilities. One is to get the offense started, one is to be the General on the floor, but sometimes, after the point guard gives the ball away to a wing player or a post player, it's also his responsibility to make sure that the play is continuing to work. If that play, at any in time, breaks down, that point guard's responsibility is, he's going to have to get himself open, not only for maybe a shot, but to get the ball back to reset a different offense or to reset the offense that we're currently in. So, what we're going to show you right now are a couple of techniques that we use with our point guards to get them open. So, I'll play a wing player right now. And our point guard is going to give the ball away, and then he's going to act as if he's going away. Now maybe he's going to go away and set a screen, but if he realizes that when I catch the ball on the wing, if I'm heavily guarded and I can't get the ball away, he may have to come and get the ball. So this is something that we call a "v" cut, which means that he is going to run his man down, and then all of a sudden he's going to stop, he's going to cut, and come right back to the ball. Now, from there, he can either recall another offense or he can change the offense that he's in, or he can try to drive and shoot. The other one that we're going to have is that we're going to show that sometimes we have a play where the point guard will give away to the wing, and then he's going to cut inside. Sometimes we have them cut, sometimes if we get in trouble, they'll fake their cut and then pop back up to the top to receive the pass. Pop back down. Now he's going to come back up, he's going to receive the pass, and we can reset the offense again. So, just because you're a point guard, doesn't mean that you give just give the ball away and then you let the rest of the offense happen. This guy has got to be responsible for coming back and getting the ball if anything ever breaks down."
