" Every sail boat is going to run into heavy air. And just like a sail boat, a large boat needs some hiking from time to time. If you could crawl out here on the high side, make sure that your tiller extension is already snapped into place. You can really lay your boat back down, even if it weighs two, three thousand pounds. One of the things you can also consider during heavy air is cross sheeting. That's when you wrap your sheet around the normal wind, but run to the high side, so neither you or your crew has to go low taking weight off the rail to adjust the tension of the jib sheet. Now you want to have...you want to make sure you got your wind channel in place and that you got it well tailed as you winch in, because in heavy air there is nothing worst then snapping lose a jib sheet and having it fly out of your hand.
