"SAL COLLURA: Okay, so some specific training for the time trial. Personally, what I recommend is get in your zone of training that's in that 90% output and keep it there, hour and a half, 2 hours. That's what a time trial is. The way to win a time trial is to meet out your performance over that, let's say 40 k. Well, you need to be putting in the maximum you can, the whole way through those 40 km. And in your training, it's the same thing. You need to be pushing about as hard as you possibly can for that length of time. And, again, you're not going to really need a bunch of accelerations or sprinting or chasing down other people. Instead, you're going to need to be in that power zone. And what I also recommend is you ride your time trial bike. Get used to being in that position. Get your body used to producing power in that uncomfortable, bent-over position, and keep yourself aero. Keep your head ducked down, even for your training. Just get used to being in that position, doing that thing, which is going fast and not worried about anybody else worrying about the clock."
