"This is Ryan Tapp on behalf of Expert Village and this is shooting a basketball. Advanced shots. We are going to talk about the fade away. Now, if you know how to do a shot off the dribble, off the pass and off the move now, you are able to move to something even a little more advanced, and that's shooting a fade away jumper. Fade away jumpers are useful mostly to bigger guys, centers, and forwards that play inside closer to the hoop. It gets a little more physical in there and it's a little harder when you are playing against someone who is really tall to get a shot up. A more advanced shot that has been created to help make that shot easier to help clear a path to making that shot without getting blocked is the fade away. When shooting a fade away jump shot, you are going to want to create as much space as you can between the ball and your opponent. The opponent is always going to be closer to the hoop trying to keep you away from scoring. So, the best way to create space is to use your body as a barrier. Okay. You are going to want to put the ball kind of out in front of you, hold it with both hands, make sure that your body is straight up in between the opponent and the ball. Make sure that space is between you and your opponent, spin off the pivot foot and face the rim. In doing so, put your body back creating that room and then release the ball. Since you are facing away from the basketball hoop, if you are going to be spinning to your left, your left foot is going to be your pivot foot. If your going to be spinning towards your right, you want to make sure that your right foot is your pivot foot."
