"Hi this is Ryan Tapp on behalf of Expert Village and this segment is shooting a Basketball: Basic Shots. We're going to talk about the jump shot. Okay the jump shot is just like the set shot, only it's a little more advanced. If you have the set shot down, you're able to move into the jump shot. A jump shot is just like a set shot only it's...it's what it sounds like - you jump. Why do you jump when you shoot? You're able to get over your opponents, you're able to get a little bit closer to the hoop, keep your opponents from blocking the ball. So the higher you can jump the better. That's why you want to keep the ball high as well remember, is to keep the ball away from your opponents, from getting blocked. So a jump shot...when you take your jump shot, you're going to want to release the ball at the very height of your jump. Whether you jump high, or you can only jump a couple inches, jump shot is probably your best shot. Get used to taking that, when you practice you're going to want to take that shot more than any other shot. It's the basic shot that most basketball players use."
