"Hi my name is Ryder Mackey, I'm here today with Expert Village and I'm going to talk to you about a very basic technique in skateboarding called the kick turn. Now you can turn using your trucks as I explained in the earlier clip but a more efficient way to turn on a skateboard once you get more comfortable, more confident, and gain more balance is the kick turn. You're going to stand on your skateboard and have your back foot on the back tail of your skateboard. Then in order to do a kick turn you're going to shift your weight to your back foot, lift your front trucks off the ground, without doing a wheelie on your back trucks and then turn with your skateboard in whichever direction you want to go to and then set your front trucks back down on the ground once you're satisfied with the degree of your turn. On the kick turn, when you shift your weight back you're going to also want to shift your weight if you're going to turn back side in front of you, you want to shift your weight in that direction a little bit so that you can have your balance to one side of the skateboard and when you life your front trucks up, it'll follow your body weight a lot easier resulting in a sharper and more efficient turn."
