Summary: Learn the proper way to hold the horse's head - free horseback riding lesson on video.
" My name is Sarah Stetner; I'm an expert horse rider on behalf of Expert Village. This is my horse Rowdy and we are going to tell you how to hold the horse's head or how the horse is suppose to hold its head in a pleasure class. So we are at the walk right now. There is different ways every horse is different. For him a quarter horse is what he is. You want his head leveled, straightly leveled and down like the nose end but not to far in passed the vertical is what it is called like this would be passed the vertical. Right there that is passed vertical. You want it just kind of relax looking the pole down. Just kinda of like this this is perfect. I'm checking I'm bringing my hip my hand up and also I squeeze with my legs as well to get his head down. So we are going to go ahead and walk around a little bit. Keep his head how it suppose to be. You could see this is perfect right here and what is tough is keeping you want this line kept throughout the whole class throughout the jog, the lope, the extended gates as well. You want that line kept as well as your equitation line to throughout all three gates. So you see how his head is leveled and kind of in a little bit like the nose does not go to far in but it goes kind of straight down. It is exactly his breed is suppose to hold his head. If you are in ....any other kind of breed they hold there head kind of up high I can't I try to do it with him but he is a quarter horse like I said. For there pleasure classes they have there head up high and tucked in. so every breed is different like I said but he is a quarter horse so you want his head exactly like this and you want to keep it that way throughout the jog and canter like I said earlier. So this is how you get his head to be perfect for a pleasure class."
