" My name is Sarah Stetner; I'm an expert horse rider on behalf of Expert Village. What I'm going to show you right now is we are just getting started here riding western and I'm going to warm up the horse and long trot him a little bit. Loosen up my body and his body. What long trotting is a little bit faster then the jog. I'm going to go ahead and post because I do have a saddle the I can do that with. I'm just going to use half of the arena today. You just want to give your horses head. Give him a loose rein while you are long trotting. Just limber him up a little bit. I usually warm up my own self up. I sometimes also to keep my heels down and my toes up I would just sit, stand on the saddle like this and just keep it like that. This is a good exercise for your legs. However, long that you do this it is a good thing. I'm still standing up on the saddle. So this is how you long trot your horse."
