How to Shoot a Paintball Gun

"Hello! This is Rob Rubin and you're watching Expert Village. This episode we're going to talk about how to shoot a paintball marker. It sounds like a simple enough task. You just kind of pull the trigger, but it's a little more complicated than that, and there's a couple things that as new player you really need to know so we're going to cover the basics. As always, when you're shooting a paintball marker safety first, safety always. No matter what kind of paintball marker you're using, they all pretty much work on the same basic principal. That is gravity fed. This device on the top here is called a hoper. The hoper hold some are between 150-200 paintballs depending on the style. Now, the way that you shoot a paintball maker is that since it's gravity feed, you have to make sure that the hopper is over the barrel. If you go all shooting like this nothing going to come out of the paintball marker and we're all going to laugh at you. Yeah, it may make you feel all tough inside, but this gets you nothing. You have to hold angle the gun like this so that the balls can feed into the gun. Then after that it's a matter of shouldering the paintball marker to somewhere where it feels comfortable and then pulling the trigger. Pretty much like that. Now, for some reason your paintball marker stops working, there are few things that you can do on paintball markers. The first thing to do is check the mechanical safety. Is the mechanical safety is on, the gun will not fire. Make sure the safety is in the active mode in the side that shows that it is not safe so that it will fire. Now, some of the paintball markers are blowback semi-automatic, which means that sometimes you have to recock the marker. Depending on the style, there is a slide somewhere on it that will let you do that. If you don't know where it is ask you referee where it is. He'll be more than happy to tell you. If for some reason after you have recocked it and after you have checked the safety it still does not fire, there's a couple other things it could still be. You might want to check to make sure you air tank has enough air in it in order to cock the gun back. If the gun sounds like it's a fully automatic machine gun, that means you're almost out of air. That means you've got to refill. If there's no problem with the air, no problem with the safety, no problem with the slide, then you got some major problems and that means that you're probably going to have to disassemble and clean the marker. If that's the case, then consult your owner's manual. That's the best bet."
