"So on a direct free kick, or any free kick in front of the goal, you're going to find that the defense is going to set up a wall. Now what a wall is, is it's a number of defenders that depends on how--the distance away from the goal. So this is about 20 yards from the goal. So you would have a big wall, so it would consist of like 4 or 5 people. And the wall has to be built 10 yards from the ball in a radius--no defender can encroach 10 yards into the radius of the ball. And a couple of tactics for the kicker: if you think the wall is getting set up slowly, you can do a quick start and not ask for the 10 yards. And so you can pass it to somebody that's open to score a goal, or you can just take a quick shot while the defense is not ready and the goal is not ready. Or you can ask for the 10 yards from the referee, and the referee will walk it out and show them where to stand, and then you have to wait on the whistle. And this will allow you to set up your shot, relax, and point out that upper 90."
