" Hello I'm Richard on behalf of expertvillage.com I'm going to try to explain the double hit foul. Double hit foul is a shot that is actually very difficult to judge. When the balls are separated as the are here between the cue ball and the one ball it would be very easy to determine whether or not the cue ball was hit twice. From a approaching shot and getting down to bank that ball and it could be in with the cue and they hit that is double hit. That would constitute a foul. When the shot becomes difficult to judge is when the ball are close together. You got very little space between the two balls and you are attempting to hit that ball straight on chances are very very good that you fare going to double hit that cue ball. That, that cue ball is actually going to hit and that it is going to hit again. It is going to come in contact with your tip before you get it out of the way. The proper way to approach that shot is either shooting the ball at a 45 degree across this way or coming in a 45degree angle this way. You can also come in and approach this shot at a 45 degree, raising your cue and shooting down on the ball. If you approach the shot in this direction and your cue ball occupies this space that was taken by this abject ball and goes forward it is going to be consider a double hit on that ball. The cue ball has actually stop or most actually drop back out of the way. For it to be a legal shot."
