"This is Richard on behalf of expertvillage.com, I'm going to give you a tip on maintaining and the importance of a level cue. By a level cue, what I'm talking about is when you are on a shot you want at all times or whenever possible to cue as level as possible. When you are down on your cue ball, then you are set, you always want to have your cue as parallel to the table as you could possibly keep it. Though granted, there are times that this is not going to be possible because the balls in the way or because you are close to the rail. The cue ball is out in a open you have that room, you want to have that. When you are down on the ball a lot of people will have a tendency to say they are hitting the cue balls center ball, it will have a tendency they will want to draw back on that cue ball they are going to be raising at the right end of the cue in order to let that cue ball roll. That you don't want to do. You want to keep this cue as level as possible. The way to that if you want to hit this cue ball over, you flatten your hand. As you flatten your hand the shaft goes down and yet you still are able to hit the low center of your cue ball and still able to maintain a level cue. You want to hit the cue ball up on top, you don't raise, you don't roll around the ball into raise that shaft, you just squeeze your finger together into a little fist and the cue automatically goes up and you are still maintaining that level cue. Same principal applies to a open bridge. You have your hand out flat, you are hitting the cue ball low, as you want to hit the cue ball a little bit higher you squeeze your hand in a little bit your bridge goes up. As the bridge goes up your cue maintains a level parallel consistency with the table. "
