" The next exercise I’m going to demonstrate is called the shoulder shrug. We’re going to do them with dumbbells this time. Go ahead and grab your weights. When you’re doing shrugs it’s very important to keep your hands lateral. You don’t want to bring your hands forward and do a shoulder shrug. Always out to the side. Navel to spine. Shoulder blades together. Standing up tall. Firmly placing your feet on the floor. You’re going to exhale as you lift and inhale lower. You want to make sure that you bring your shoulders straight up towards your ears and lower. You never want to round your shoulders up and back while you are doing the shrug; not good for the joints. Straight up and lower. Very good. Exhale and inhale. Good. Exhale. So the only thing moving are the arms. You’re lifting your arms straight up, shoulders straight toward your ears. Again, you do want to keep a loose grip on the bars. Exhale. Good and inhale. Perfect. Exhale lift and inhale lower. "
