on 8/2/2008 Riki Lacks crediblity b/c technique is poor - the way Riki does it. bad technique can increase the chance of injury to lower back. do not attempt to learn this exercise from a video - it is based learned by someone SHOWING you in person, and that person correcting your technique to ensure you don't get injured. also, riki's technique resembles more of an upright row than a barbell row.

Video Transcript

"The next exercise I’m going to demonstrate for you is a row with a barbell. So you’re going to have the bar right in front of you, right at your feet. Adjust your posture first. So your feet are going to be at least hip width apart, abs are engaged. You want to bend your knees, grab a hold of the barbell. Bring in your hands so that your arms are in one line. So think about your shoulders, elbows and wrists being in one line. You’re going to bend your knees, sticking your glutes back, engaging your abdominals and flattening your back. You’re going to exhale as you squeeze, pulling that barbell up to your chest and then inhale as you lower. Remember to squeeze your shoulder blades together and exhale. While you’re standing here, make sure that the weight of you body goes into your heels and not your toes to take the pressure off of your knees. Exhale, squeeze your shoulder blades together and inhale lower and inhale lower exhale, perfect. "
