"I'm Ritchie Greer with Expert Village. Let's talk about pump fakes. What a pump fake is -- it's basically a fake shot. To make it really work, you have to really sell it. Now, here's an example. If I'm going to go here and I'm going to go and I'm going to pump -- that tricks the defender into thinking that I'm going to release the shot there. Now, what that usually does it it puts him into the air. When he's in the air, he is at your mercy. You can go ahead and go by him, shoot over him, or hopefully create contact, which puts you on the line. Now, the bad thing about pump fakes is that you've got to make sure you keep your pivot foot on the ground, because if you go up in the air and your foot goes with it, and you come down with it, it's traveling. So it doesn't matter what happens after that because the ref's going to call it and it's going to be walking up and down and traveling. So, make sure on your pump fakes that you're able to maintain position on your legs and onto the floor, and really sell the pump fake, get your defender in the air and out of control. Now let's talk about -- let's hope you get fouled by using your pump fake and you go to the line. Let's talk about how you make foul shots."
