"Let's take a look at how to properly perform a bunt. This is something you may be asked to do as a hitter if you need to advance your runner from first to second base or second to third. Take your normal batting stance holding the bat with your pinky on the knob wrapping and holding it loosely in your fingers. When the pitcher goes into his windup put your thumb behind the barrel of the bat, you don't want to get it on the bat so you get hurt, hold it very, very loosely out in front of you. When the ball comes to you receive it with negative force, bring it back so you barely make contact putting the ball into the field of play. You can turn the direction if you want to put it down the first base line, if you want to put it off the center, if you want to put it down the third base line. Again, you're in the position, turn to face, holding it with your fingers behind the barrel of the bat, with a little bit of negative force. That's a bunt."
